Want to give your hair just a little more depth and texture? This can be done with highlights or lowlights, but what is the difference between the two? We will explain it to you!

What are highlights?

Highlights are light strands in your hair. These tufts are lighter than your own hair color. By using a few shades lighter than your current hair color, they provide a fresh sun-kissed effect . The general rule is to use two or three shades lighter than your own hair color.

What are lowlights?

Lowlights are actually the opposite of highlights. With highlights, lighter strands are placed in your hair, with lowlights, dark strands are placed in the hair. In general, lowlights look a little more subtle than highlights, because the dark dyed strands lie underneath the lighter hair.

Can you also combine highlights and lowlights?
Yes, that is certainly possible! By working with light and dark colors, the hair appears optically fuller. Highlights reflect the light and provide a lot of volume. Lowlights absorb the light and provide more depth. By combining these together you get a lot of dimension in the hair, which ensures beautiful results.

How long do highlights and lowlights last?

Your hair grows an average of 1 cm per month. This means that your highlights will also grow out. It obviously differs per person, but we recommend having your highlights touched up every 8 to 10 weeks.

You can keep your highlights nice and fresh in between by using a silver shampoo . A silver shampoo neutralizes unwanted yellow pigments in your hair and keeps your color nice and cool. You can also choose to have a toner applied in the salon after about 6 weeks. A toner is used to freshen the tone of certain colors or shades or to neutralize unwanted orange or yellow tones after highlighting the hair.

How do I take care of my highlights?

We recommend a combination of the Keune Blonde Savior and Silver Savior products.

It contains essential ingredients to keep blonde hair healthy and to compensate for any damage caused during bleaching. Blonde Savior products go perfectly with Silver Savior products. For example, wash your hair twice a week and use the products alternately. This is how you use Silver Savior to neutralize the color and remove the yellow glow from your hair. While Blonde Savior repairs and protects the hair. The Blonde Savior line consists of a shampoo, mask and leave-in treatment. The Silver Savior line contains a shampoo, conditioner and a foam treatment.
